The following organizations sponsor the Glass Slipper prom dress sale: Lebanon County Commission for Women, TempForce, Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce Athena Women, Lebanon Family Health Services, COMP Assist and I.A. Design.Every year, girls around the country get dressed and ready for an American high school tradition: Prom.In Odessa, a nonprofit is helping girls who can't afford to buy a dress for that special night and letting them choose their own garments free of charge.Kelly Blau, owner of University Bridals & Formals, 2117 East 42nd St., saw the concept being done in other states and decided to start Operation Glass Slipper in Odessa four years ago.

"For these girls, that is huge because they haven't usually worn what everybody's worn. It's just that glimmer of hope."The girls must meet the requirements of being an enrolled as a junior or senior in high school, they must be attending their prom and be referred to the program through CPS, a school counselor or a local clergy.Due to high rent, insurance and food costs in Odessa, there are people who are struggling, Blau said."Cost of living here is very high, and so if you are a single-i'e or have multiple kids, there's not always a lot of money for extras, so I know there are people that could benefit from it," Blau said. This year's Operation Glass Slipper event takes place at 6:15 p.m. March 18. The girls invited to the event after the referral process are scheduled for appointments.There are 150 dresses up for donation, and in the past, girls have'e from high schools all over the Permian Basin region. The dresses'e in all size ranges, with light pinks and dark reds, simple satins or bejeweled corsets.Those who donate dresses get a receipt for their tax deduction. Blau asked for people to donate dresses no more than four years old and to refrain from giving away garments not intended for prom,Pure Cotton Long Sleeve like bridesmaid dresses.
